I think you did too good. I love portraits where the subject is out of place in the surroundings. I've not seen too many...well any men walking around in a field wearing a suit.
Lighting. pose, and background are great. I'd have had the empty space on the right side of the frame thou. |

There's nothing visually connecting you to the scene. My eyes bounce back and forth from the field to you and wonder what the photo is about. It's technically very nice -- and that's pleasing -- but I think the photo is otherwise somewhat bland and boring (sorry).
Now your Redemption photo, however, is very nice since the pose, the sky, and the isolated field all tie together to tell a story. |

I LOVE this! It reminds me of a shot that you would normally do for a magazine ad. Theres a term for this type of shot but for the life of I cant think of it.
One of the things I like so much is the more the man looks out of place, the more you start to think he isnt. In other words, it really makes the viewer think about it. Its not only very eye catching but it makes you think. I cant think of anything to offer you to make it any better cause in my world, it all ready is!

Hey Carl, very cool portrait. Great location, lighting, composition, etc .... Its looks like it belongs in the CIO or the Fast Company magazine.
If there was one thing I could point out (what do I know? I'm only a beginner), it would be your vertical position. With the leaves coming up all the way to your hip, it kinda makes you look stinted. Its not complimenting your physique. I'm imagining you sitting on a bar stool in the field or something that would give you a slight lift, and the with the camera at a lower angle ..... oh well! What do I know .....

This is a very powerful portriat. The subject _looks_ out of place in the field, but it starts the thought process of how farming has become industrialized and big business in some areas. The lighting, composiiton, etc. very thought provoking....is this the CEO of this big agribusiness? Is this image a statement about how corporate America turns its back on environmental issues? Is he a politician who is campaigning on environmental issues? It can convey so many messages!
Very nice, very nice, indeed! Anne |

Mate, that shot is sensational!
Personally I think your crop/zoom/positioning is perfect. It makes me think of an add for a country bank manager or insurance. (Or CEO like Anne said). With the farm behind and looking forward (to future?), it's like you're saying, I wear a suit, but the bush is still my life. As country boy, whatever he's selling, I'm buying

I really like the composition on this. It does look like some portraits I've seen in corporate glossy financials.
