I think you achieved what you were after ... she look as though she is lit by the rays of the sunset .. I like how the light drop off at the bottom - mimicking the horizon .. nice work

Thanks for the comments so far guys. I truly appreciated it. I've been trying to be more creative with flash and photography in general. As for the detail in that shot, it's all the 5d mark II. Ever since I've gotten that beast, I've taken some of my best shots, and the detail and resolution are amazing. If you have the cash i absolutely recommended it.

If you want critique, you want the Critique section. Since you also included some information about how and why you took it and only had one photo, I've shuffled it over into the right place.
BTW - the subject's top creates an interesting moiré effect. I wonder if manually resizing to different levels rather than would avoid that or if it is an unavoidable side-effect of the narrow bands on her clothing. Wulf |

If you look at the original size on Flickr, it does not have that effect. That is pretty weird I just noticed it now since you've mentioned. It's probably the size of the pics that Flickr chooses for medium and normal...

I think you did an excellent job as setting up the lighting for this shot. Exposure is spot on.

I think maybe the flash would blend better with the ambient light if you had added a little orange gel.
I've never had the opportunity to work with gels, so I'm only speculating. Other than that, brilliant shot. Great composition and exposure! I recently tried a shot with a similar setup which can be seen here. However, mine was sunrise, not sunset.
