Default nepali kids

hey guys, im new here. new to photography too. im 18, don't really have a good camera (hopefully i'll get a better one soon), but this is one of my fav shots and i'd like to hear some comments on how i can make it better (eg composition, processing AND perhaps how i could've played with the camera settings eg exposure). took it when i was at a camp in Nepal, beautiful place. thanks in advance for your comments!

Camera: Nikon Coolpix E5600
Exposure: 1/170sec
Exposure Bias: 0EV
ISO Speed: ISO-50
Focal Length: 8mm
35mm Focal Length: 46 (i dont know what's this)
anyway, just to note, i can't change to aperture priority mode or those other modes that dslrs have. i can only change the exposure setting yep that's all!

smile!

Hi and welcome to DPS. That is a pretty decent shot for being new. Since the subject is the 3 kids, I think I would not have cut off the one kids arm there. Next time I would try to get the entire subject in the frame or cut at a place that wouldn't look strange. The color is good and the exposure isn't bad. Does your camera have a flash? I know it sounds weird to use a flash in broad daylight but a flash would take away those shadows left on their faces. Hope that helps and keep up shooting.

Nothing at all wrong with the camera your using. You seem to be doing pretty good with it.

I agree with Trader, about the crop, and some fill flash would have been great on their eyes. Really nice colors.

Over all I think its a nice shot.

Welcome to DPS.

Default fill flash

oh yeah! haha i haven't really noticed the cropped out arm..
question about using the flash. will it result in overexposure or the colors being washed out? i read somewhr that perhaps turning on the flash, while reducing the exposure might be a solution, will that work?
