Default Fashion shoot

Hi All,
This was my first attempt at a fashion shoot.
It was unexpected, i was there, I was available, I was asked.
No Studio, no lighting other than my SB600, no backdrop. shot against a window.
Please be honest, is it over exposed?
Is the comp right?

Thanks,
~Kim

Hi Kim, you did not include the EXIF data per the forum rules so it is hard to make a lot of technical comments on the image. It is a high key fashion photo but did your flash fire on this shot? There are quite a few shadows on her face. For composition, I don't care for the fact that you cup off the top of her head also.

The background is blown out and her face is underexposed. I agree with Trader that the top of her head should not have been cut off.

When dealing with backlighting, it's generally a good idea to spot meter off the face to prevent underexposure.

Also...for a fashion shoot - you really should include more of the clothing the model has on. This is more of a general portrait than fashion.

And yes, please do provide your EXIF per critique forum rules...thanks!

I agree about the crop, and the under exposure. On my monitor I'm seeing a green cast on her chest too.

I really like the shot thou.

Super quick edit.

Just simple stuff.

First I painted out all the stuff from the background, so it looked like you shot on seamless white paper.

Then I created a new layer, and converted it to screen mode, to brighten her up.

Last I just did some eye work. I brightened, and sharpened them.

Took just a couple minuets.

thank you, I hope to do better next time!
The biggest challenge for me was getting out of a preset mode, and having total control in the manual setting. Funny how things like that seem scary...
