Default Maternity Shoot

A woman I work with is expecting her first baby with her husband and they agreed to allow me to shoot thier maternity photos as a learning tool. I had the best time, and really got to play around with lighting and all. I am looking for some critique on the composition and lighting, if there was a way to set this picture better - her belly is highlighted, I liked the way the sun shined on her belly, almost seem to illuminate it.

From Untitled Album

EXIF:
Nikon D40
Focal Length: 46mm
1/60
F 5.3
ISO 400

Here is the rest of the album (sans the topless shots) The Helms

I like the composition and the lighting looks good to me. Maybe a llittle space on the left could have been better. IMO

Yes, you did a good job with the sunlight hitting her belly. I think I would have added a little fill flash camera right to this shot also.

Janet, I thought I'd share with you my favorite maternity portrait photographer's site. Check it out, it's pretty cool. I love everything he does. That's my kind of pregnancy portratire. When I was pregnant I tried really hard to recreate his shots and amazingly got good results.

Hope you will like it.

I agree with previous post....rob fitch is amazing!! I love his work as well.
For your shot....I think it's great. I too would leave a bit more space on the left.

I checked out your other pictures....there are some really nice ones. A few suggestions....move your background back a little bit so that you don't see all the wrinkles and such in the fabric. Also for the mirror shot...I would have taken the painting off the wall behind them. Nice job though! I'm sure they'll love them!

Thank you all so much for your suggestions - I completely forgot about the print reflection in the mirror.

Thanks for the website - can't wait to look it over!!
