Default black and white sleeping child

hello
this is one of my first attempts to creating a close up portrait of my child. i used 2 sidelamps in a dark bedroom to balance the light on her face. i was not using a tripod and was getting in pretty close using the A mode.
i have some fault on my chip and it's not reading the EXIF data so it might be inaccurate.
The aperture was somewhere between 3.6 - 4.5 and ISO was 400. i do not know the shutter speed, sorry.
i did some cropping and adjustment to the sheet around her body and added a soft edge plus changed to B&W.

i would appreciate all the comments you can give me because that is how i will learn.
i would also appreciate tips on how to blur objects using photoshop because i could not find a tutorial and i worked with picture-it. i would preferred the flowers close to her face to be a bit more blurred.

thanks and looking forward to your commens
