Default Sweet Dreams....

Took this of my daughter, at my mother in laws today, with a window giving natural light from the right.

is the composition ok?
is it too dark?
does the slight noise add to the shot or make it worse?

Yes it is too dark and I don't think the noise adds anything postiive to the shot.

cdgaskin your making it difficult for us. Look at the FAQ for how to post from flickr so we can click through your post to the larger image so we can see the detail.

However your small image was interesting enough that I broke a habit and went looking for it.

is the composition ok?
is it too dark?

I'm taking these together because I think they are complemetary. The composition and light is great if you were trying to get a sort of Hitchcock, dead child in an armchair shot, it's quite disturbing. However, by your title, I'm assuming that's not what you were going for. In which case you should have gone 90 degrees right and caught her open eyes and "Don't I look silly" expression.

does the slight noise add to the shot or make it worse?
What noise?

I agree with Nathan about moving to the right. I think her face being more in the photo it would be more captivating to viewers.

WOW, dead child in a chair....... um she was actually asleep, hence the title, so she didnt have her eyes open. also the right edge of the chair was a wall. (with the window)

not quite what i was going for..... but thats why its in the critique section, to get other peoples views on it.....

I love the shot! It is a very sweet sleeping baby photo. (who said "dead baby"??) I love that it is in B & W...the darkness of the chair highlights the child. Good work! Remember: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I personally really like this shot! My kids sleep in all kinds of funny ways too and it's great to capture that! This shot almost reminds me of a bw film shot so the noise ( at this size I don't see any) wouldn't bother me at all.

I love it and don't think it's in the least bit spooky!

I really like this. I'd like to see a little more of her face, but I know that you can't stand in the middle of a wall, as much as you might want to. The lighting is nice, and I wouldn't call it too dark.
