This is my very first SP and was done as part of the Ghetto lighting topic for the dPS 365 assignment on Flickr . I used one candle 45 degrees to camera right and converted to B&W using Picasa3 . I mainly want to know if composition is OK as I've only been taking photos since January 09 and have been obsessed with landscapes and the like have very little knowledge of anything to do with portraits and would rather be behind the camera instead of in front of it . Cheers

I do like the angle you took on this one. I would like to see either a little more of an eye, or not at all

Thanks windrider I was actually going for none but .....well in the dark by the light of a candle with a remote switch in the other hand after about 40 blurry attempts this was the shot that made it but I know what you mean , may have another go it was sort of fun , I'm really not much of a portrait person but its starting to grow on me a little . Thanks for looking and the advice .

by candlelight.. thats impressive.
Well! You did very well for someone who doesn’t to portraits. The composition is perfect really.. the only slight exception I’d make is the hand cut off.. but this could be rectified by including the upper arm/shoulder. This could have acted as a natural frame. Other than that I like it.. mysterious enough to be “cool and mellow”… quite blues/jazzy if it makes any sence. normally i'd suggest a contrast boost.. but this liiks good in the "washed" look. nice one.
