What a cute picture! I would like to see it cropped tighter on the left side to remove some of the dead space there. I love the depth of field. Great capture!!

I'd have had her face in focus, and the flower blurred.

I agree with what mmeyer just said. I would crop it to just about square. I like the depth of field and I would also like to see the same photo taken around f/11.0 to get the girl even more in focus. You have enough of shutter speed there to play with.

I would ask is the flower the subject or the girl touching a flower? I think the answer would be the girl so she should be in focus, the flower may or may not be in focus depending on what it is you want to acheive.

Thank you all for your comments, I wanted to capture the aspect that spring was here, some typical flower shots but i wanted them to look a little more interesting so I got my friend's daughter to play with the flowers adding some interest. So the focus was more on the flower not the girl.

I will go against the crowd and say putting focus on the flower was great. (I agree with the dead space on the left, and maybe you should have shot it a little to the right to start with, but what's done is done.)

i like the flower in focus because, it shows me exactly where the focus is. See, the child s touching the flower and that's where all the attention should be. (It might be the magician in me talking, because we need the audience to focus on what we want them to focus on... misdirection...)

But, yeah, back to the subject, if the child is touching the flower, that where her attention is, and that's where OUR attention should be as well. If the focus is on the face, then we are going against what the baby is interested in.

If the focus was on the face, then it would seem like this : The kid's interested in the flower, but we don't care.

That's what I feel, so I think you did a great job with the focus. (plus the child isn't totally thrown out of focus, so we can still see the features pretty well.)

I thought the same thing, if the focus was on her than what would the point of the flower be?
I also wanted to say that I was looking at some of your photos and I really like them, great job!
