I would love the composition and lighting critiqued here, when I look at it, it looks fine (on my uncalibrated laptop
) but I am always biased and its very hard to improve when you dont know what you need to improve.......... And is it bad that hes frowning????So this is from the family shoot I did last weekend and I got a great response from the mother on all the photos, she ordered a bunch of them. Anyway this shot I love, and its going to be included in the pictures she ordered, but I am wondering if the lighting is to dark for printing and the colors are to saturated? Also is his head to high up in the frame? ![]() Its been edited online bc I need to buy new ps software and havent had time, so this is close to what Id like it to look like, but is it going to look ok when I have it printed? The original size of the image is on my flickr at www.sadilane.com

In a perfect world, I think his head could be a little lower in the frame, but I don't think it is bad the way it is. As for the color, I love the saturated look (it does not look too saturated to me). It's a little dark on my monitor around the bottom edges...was that a vignette or was that just how the pic turned out? That's the only thing I might lighten up. If his chin had been raised just a tad, his frown may not have seemed so menacing...if his head had been up and slightly tilted back, he may have seemed more relaxed and not mad if that makes sense. Either way I think the pic is great and it may have captured his personality perfectly so that's why they liked it so much! I definitely like the pic...good job!

Thanks both of you, I did add a vingette to the shot, which wont be used in the final print, and I see what you meant about his chin and head tilt, good idea, and I will look out for that next time. Thanks. I did capture his personality perfectly according to his mother, thats why she love this shot soooo much. First thing she said when she saw it was that it was a perfect example of his personality.... so I guess it great

Good work on this one. I reckon I can't add any useful information to what's already been said, but I think it looks great and I'm glad your photo shoot went so well and that the client liked what you created for her.
Great job! Eric
