Default Family Shoot in Groves

So I had a family shoot last weekend in the orange groves in our area, the biggest problem I ran into was the daupled lighting from the sun shining through the trees, and I dont have my off camera flash yet so that was an issue to, but I think this shot came out cute, I am doing a proffing appointment with them tomorrow to pick out the pictures they want printed, and am a little nervous.
Anyway for this shot is the lighting ok? I have adjusted slightly (but since my computer crashed I dont have my photoshop software until I get my disc back so I am using picnic) anyways just curious also about the composition, is it to standard and boring or intimately shot and fun? Thanks in advance

Client: Family shoot
ps I know its slightly oversharpened, gonna fix later

Beautiful Shot!

I love the charm on their faces...

Excellent work... considering the odd lighting...

Hmmnn... big bags under their eyes! You might have been able to fix or minimise that with a reflector of some kind. Also, I find it a bit distracting that the pair (mother and daughter?) are looking in different directions; it might tie together better to get them both to focus on the same spot.

The eyes do make the Mom look older than she is, but the thing that stands out to me is the light difference between the two. I know you were shooting with what you had, but its an easy fix. I also gave the Mom a touch of Noise Ninja to give her skin a texture closer to her daughters.

Thanks so much, mom was older, she had to grown sons so I couldnt do much about that, but your edit looks great. I had a reflector, just didnt use it in this shot, and I couldnt get the little girl to look at me she was very distracted the whole time and wanted to run around and climb the trees so I had to keep talking to her and shed still look away, she was a beautiful but busy little girl. Anyway thanks for the advice, Im still working on them (:

I'm not sure that the edit removing the bags is that flattering? I don't know, something about it makes the mom's smile look unnatural. Like she has botox or somthing.
Actually, I didn't even notice the bags until I read a post where someone pointed them out, and since daughter has them too....I wouldn't chalk it all up to age!
I think the pose is adorable though.

I think this is a great photo to begin with, and I love how Wood made the skin tones of mother and daughter more the same. I'll have to agree with Slugger though that I think the removal of the bags under they eyes is just a little too drastic on the mother. The little girl's eyes look great, but if you were to back off just a little on the mother's eyes from what Wood did, I think it would look a little better.

Thanks, I love this shot to....
in reference to the edits, I merged the two together and it created a very natural and smooth look and removed the harshness of the bags without giving it a surgically enhanced look.... will post when I get a chance to transfer the file..

thanks again wood for the edit (:
