Default Focus on Eyes

Mel

Would love to know how to focus more clearly on the eyes. I seem to have focused on her hair, but I really tried to get the eyes. Does anybody know what I would be doing wrong.
Was using Canon 400D with EF 50mm f/1.8 II.

Any comments welcomed as this is my very first post. Thanks, Andy

Use only one focus point instead of all 9 or however many there are. I normally have the center point used for focusing. I then press the shutter release button halfway when the center point is over the eye, reframe the picture then take the picture.

On the 40d you can change your focus points while still looking through the viewfinder a bit easier so you can choose a different focus point without having to reframe and hope for the best.

The flash looks like it may have hit the hair harsh, there is a hard shadow under the chin is why I mentioned it. Perhaps if the light was a little more diffused, the skin wouldn't appear so bright, and the eyes would come into focus more.

Could be wrong.
