Default Self portrait, bored in hotel room.

I took this when I was away working a couple of weeks ago. What do you think of the lighting and overall composition?

Nikon D60
55mm
f/9
1/160
ISO 200

It would be of great help to you, and anyone that takes the time to critique your image if they know what you want critique on.

The rules are posted at the top of the page.

"What do you think" isn't a specific question.

i think about allot of stuff..
how the economy will recover, global warming, cures for cancer, the world wars and how to stop those idiot youth gangs from screwing up the country.
you know, law and order is quite a hot topic, just think about it, if laws were well enforced would there be as much crime? what about changing the laws so the crimes arent crimes anymore.. thats a sure fire way to make a government look good statistically.

in the midst of it all, one of the things i think about quite allot (far more than the rest of that junk) is:
whats for dinner ?

i cant see the picture, just an "x"

When I first viewed this thread, I was able to see the picture, with Wood's comments.

Then the picture went bye-bye.

I'm confused.

OK OK, I suppose I deserve the sarcasm due to not reading the rules.

It just seemed common sense that, 'what do you think?', meant a general overall opinion of the shot. Ahh well.

It has been said that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit! personally I love it and I'm glad that you guys are as low as me.

I have edited the original post.

I think it is too overall dark and needs more contrast. Composition is good, except looking into the mirror/camera with some good eye contact would be stricking. But what do I know?

I really like the general feel of this photo and the mood it evokes! Composition wise, I think that huge chunk out of the top of your head is distracting, as are the lines from the edge of the mirror near the bottom of the photo. The lighting is fine and adds to the mood, assuming that's what you were going for as thesightofoneself said. I agree that more contrast would be nice, but really the thing that could be most improved on in the photo, I think, is if the top of your head was in the frame.
