Default No eyes?

I took this of my friend's daughter. I know something is not working, but I don't know the technicalities of photography enough to know what... maybe it's that the eyes are cut out. I feel like in a sense it also is working... This has not been processed at all.

Nan thinking harder

Maybe I could highlight her mouth or something?
Should i crop it so that it only has her hands and the mouth?

Help! (or maybe i should just focus on the ones where i have her whole face in the picture?)

the first thing i noticed is that its not straight. id straighten it out, crop it in to her shoulder on her right and then try black and white. her lips have some shine on them so if you sharpen the picture they will pop even more. another thing you can do is use guassian blur and then erase her lips so they pop that way. its cute, if it were me Id try to play with it and see what i could come up with

Yes, you feel like something is not working because you see a face but there are no eyes...our eyes generally seek out the eyes of another person but since there are no eyes your brain is having a hard time dealing with this image.

This picture reminds me of the movie "Silent Hill".

i played with a little. hope you dont mind.

i do wish the nose wasnt cut off in the middle. the way her hand is up it makes me think she is bored.

if you have some you love then dont worry about this one but if there is something you do like about it then keep it!

yeah, the nose IS a problem!
i guess that what this image looks like to me is a kid who's thinking about something, possibly a bit bored -but it's like the hands supporting the head is communicating something. i like ho you cropped it a little bit more close to her shoulders.
thanks for the input!
Also -it makes sense that our eyes would naturally go to the eyes... i just hope it doesn't look as scary as Silent Hill...

I'd crop it a bit so it isn't so symmetrical and that might make her lips pop out more. Try cropping it tight or placing her lips on an intersection point in the rule of thirds. Lots you could do in post processing. Have fun

Fix

Hope you don't mind. I just adjusted the angle and cropped. I love little noses, so I kept it in the shot
