Default Be Nice To Me... I'm New :)

Hi Guys,

I have got back into photography about 12 or so months ago. Maybe a little longer, but not much. I have a Pentax K10 D which I absolutely love. Here are a couple of my fav shots which I'd like pulled apart as I would like to get better at this. I love child photography as it captures the innocence of life and what we have often lost.

I'm going to be nice and direct you to the rules page before the moderators get to you.

Welcome. dhart pointed you to the rules, but I'll give you the basics. Critique is limited to one shot per day, so I'll remove the extra shots. But feel free to come back in a day (24h) and post another shot. That should keep you posting for at least a week And welcome again!

Sorry. You've actually picked a good one to keep . One thing that I think lets this pic down is the big fat image of the soft box in the eyes of one of my daughters. How is it best to avoid this?

anotherben, Welcome

Your question illustrates why the guidelines point out how important it is to include information about your image in your opening post (including EXIF). Viewers would be able to comment, Critique, advise much more effectively. Even an idea of how you positioned your lights would be helpful.

Well, now that you've been informed of the rules...

Wonderful shot! the lighting is soft and the contrast is perfect. Although there is a charm to the babies spread arms, perhaps have mom hold his hands down just outside of the frame next time, so that you don't accidentally crop a hand off.

Ok.. I'm learning

Here goes...

Camera: Pentax K10D
F-Stop: F19
Shutter Speed: 1/125 sec
ISO: 400
Focal Length: 26mm
Lense: Sigma 20-40 2.8

I used a single 300w strobe flash with a 50" soft box attached to it. It was almost directly above. The kids were lying on a black sheet on the ground.
