Default My first time shooting someone elses kids

Here is a post from my first time shooting someone's kids who were not mine. It seemed like a train wreck at the time but I think the pictures turned out well.

I would appreciate some feedback.

Hanan 112008 281

Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 0.002 sec (1/500)
Aperture: f/10
Focal Length: 45 mm
ISO Speed: 800
Exposure Bias: -2/3 EV

Here are a few more
http://flickr.com/photos/7569562@N02...7609808752345/

Thank you.

Every thing was shot with a D40 with a 18-55 kit lens connected to a SB600 with a PC cable and fired through a shoot through umbrella.

Good exposure of the little guy and liked the pose too. But I would not have the background so black. Let the viewer see where the kid is playing. Show some surounding to give context to his pose. Otherwise he seems to be hanging in space.

Placing his head on a third point (top-left) and showing where he us hanging from will add more value to this picture.

I really like 3rd & 6th on your flickr, very cute shots! And the one you posted is a really nice "fun" shot!

Default Back Ground

Do you have any suggestions for back grounds. I am just starting so I only have black and white at the moment.

I think that was kind of what rajpradhan was getting at. This is not a normal "pose"; it would not likely occur in a studio. (It looks to me like an adult may be holding him that way, I didn't catch that first time thru..should be edited out)
The "background" for a pic like this would "logically" be a playground.

I like the pose and the background. Looks a little different!

I agree that you should clone out the edge of the supporting hand though.

I agree about cloning out the edge of the adult hand, but other than that I think it's a great set of pictures. Great job!
