Default Hannah & The Blueberry

Two versions here ... I like the B&W but it bothers me for some reason. Any/all critique appreciated, as well as ideas of how I could have made the shot better.

I personally love the B&W and leaving the blueberry in color....it matches her eye color. with that said it is a precious pic and I would frame it.

Default Thanks ...

The full color version is cropped 12x12 and hanging in our home. I like the B&W ... when you see it large you can actually see the purple of the blueberry reflected in her eye, as well as me behind the camera. There is just something about it that doesn't feel done ...I've thought about masking to allow the headband color to show through as well ....

very cute picture and your daughter is adorable!

I think the colors are a little "flat".
More glow/light on her face would help as well as playing with more contrast so that she stands out from the background more. I would prob try to up the saturation too if it were me (but im new to this!)

I noticed that its very red on the side of her right eye, close to her hand. Some kind of relfection off of her skin? Even in the B&W it looks pink in the corner of that eye.

i know there are people who know how to fix that - maybe someone will come in here and play with it for you

Great job!

welcome to the forums, MAQ....

that's an adorable shot of hannah and i really like the way you've framed her and that blueberry.....

a couple of things.......it's important that you take a minute to read the posting rules for critique as well as the faq's for dps....while it's okay to post an attachment, it's best to use an image hosting site for posting images here......it allows us old folks to click on the image and look on the site for a larger size as well as make your exif infor more accessable.....both to you and to us mods.....

thanks and enjoy!

Default The red in the eye ...

Thanks Rachel. I know that red is a bit distracting, but when you see this pic large, you realize that it's actually the blueberry reflecting in her eye. I almost took it out, but it's kind of cool....

Your point on contrast is a good one. I'd have used a little fill flash if I could do it over .... I'll play with this a bit in PS and see what I can come up with.

Thanks peeper. I have never used a hosting site ... can you suggest one that is REALLY easy to use? I'm an older folk too, and don't always find these sites intuitive. I do have an online gallery with my mobile me (Mac) account ... would that work okay?
