Default Engagement Shot

This is somewhat a self portrait. I used the timer setting and set the camera on a shoebox on the ground. I love the concept, but I wonder if you think it's a little strange that you can't see our eyes.
On one hand, I kind of like that you can't see our eyes, makes it sort of secret and intimate. But on the other hand, is it kind of strange looking?

Any critiques/opinions/pats on the back would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I love the concept - but I think the face it self distracts - maybe if we just saw the hands...

cool concept. i'd rather see the full face or no face at all though.

I really like the concept of this shot! Very creative. Personally, I'd like to see the full face, but would be ok if they were not in focus. The engagement ring/holding hands nice and sharp with out of focus couple kissing above.

Very cool, and congratulations!

Thank you! I did take a few where we weren't kissing and our faces were out of focus, but then they just looked distorted from that view.

Perhaps I'll try again this weekend....

I like the picture and the concept. I actually think it works quite well with just a tighter crop. I don't think there needs to be that much body in the picture.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tightened up the crop quite a bit and then got a bit carried away in photoshop so I added the lomo-effect.

I usually don't go for the overly-processed look, but this is kind of a fun shot so I thought it might not be to over-done. What's the consensus?

I like the crop and the processing for the most part, though I'd attempt to take it a step further and really make that diamond sparkle!

I mean... ...I'm sure it does, it's beautiful, but because of the angle it's kind of in the shadows, so I'd try to make it stand out a bit more.

I hope that came across right.

Great suggestion! Thank you!

Other than to use a star brush shape in photoshop how would I get the ring to sparkle more? I have CS3 but I'm still new to it and trying to figure out the nuances.

I would dig it if there was more separation between the faces and the hands. A slightly different angle maybe. I don't know, it is good to try something different.
