Question Fun November Photo Shoot...

I posted these pictures in the Share Your Shots section, but I decided I needed some pointers and constructive ctriticism instead... So, shoot away. I can use all the help I can get... Especially since I am using a point and shoot! AH! haha....

ONE shot for critique at a time please. I've left the one I took from the related share your shots thread.

Also, could you tell us a bit more about the equipment you used, the approach you had in mind and any specific questions about this image?

Wulf

ps. FWIW, a classic pose and great colours. Focus is a bit off though - the normal approach for this kind of shot is to make sure the face is in sharp focus (and definitely the eyes).

I used a Sony DSC W200. It is a basic point and shoot camera. I really don't have much experience... There is a limit as to what you can do with this camera. I have very limited control of the aperture, etc.... So, I'm just working with what I have! What else can I do to improve my focus, etc. with this type of camera?

Default photo shoot

though the pic is soft. however since it is a girl's face, i might have used soft focus filter, to make it more softer. fine lighting.
....only improvement u cud do was to select the background according to the subject.....a beautiful face so a beautiful BG.
....SINCE IT IS P&S, u cannot have control on aperture, only thing is that when it shows indicator of focus in the viewfinder/LCD then click. all the best.

It can be frustrating to work with a P&S camera as you have to figure out how to wrangle it towards the desired results. You should be able to do things like focus on the eyes and then, keeping the shutter half-depressed, recompose the overall image.

It is definitely also worth building some post-processing skills. In this picture, I would probably see if I could make the eyes look sharper but tone down the blue collar in the bottom right - that looks sharper at the moment, which draws the eye from the face.

Thanks for your advice! One of my friends is actually sending me photoshop as a gift! I will play with it and see what I come up with... Any other final suggestions?

Actually seems like a pretty nice camera, you can shoot full manual mode.

I really like the shot, and I think the background fits well. She looks cold, and the background definitely looks cold. The colors are nice and bright, her face looks a little pink, but that goes in well with the cold surroundings.

You could do a little post work, and bring her eyes out some.

Over all I think you did well.

I was pretty happy with the shot... But I really don't know much about "popping" the eyes... I will have to look up a tutorial online.

For those of you who said I needed to "pop" the eyes a little... Here we go.

It's subtle, but I like it! Tell me what you think...

I think it looks better. You can see more detail in them now.
