Newbie - My darling baby

Hi there,

I am very new to this site, and this will be my first photo to be judged on.
Besides the dribble, what can you say about this picture? I am only just learing so any advice would be great. I have a Canon 20D SLR camera.

Very nice capture. The composition looks good, the exposure perhaps a touch dark.
The main thing I see is the distraction in the bg. Clone that out, a quick exposure/contrast boost and it'd be great.

Ohh ohh those products are greek to me. Perhaps somebody else will know what the terms are in that product.
If you know how to darken the bg that might work also.
