First time posting. Aspiring photographer shooting friends and neighbors for practice for now. I love shooting on angles but haven't found that rule of thumb yet. Most of the time I feel like the angles are too severe and everyone looks like they're going to fall over. Sometimes my camera (Nikon D50) reorients them in camera and sometimes not. I'm assuming that depends on how I'm angling the camera to begin with? Should I stay away from angles or is there a better way to approach/shoot so my subjects aren't tipping over. Also interested in thoughts on shooting into sun. Too much here?

Cute kids. I like the backyard setting with the leaves. Very good idea. The only things that I would change: The baby's left leg is cut off and IMO there is too much of an angle. I am just waiting for them to slide out of the picture. I really like your DOF.

the kids are adorable. I don't tend to like angles on full body shots precisely for what you mentioned about them looking as if they may tip over. I do like an angle on a full face portrait sometimes. As far as shooting into the sun...I'm iffy on it; sometimes the flare looks artistic, sometimes it takes away from the picture. I guess all in all I'm not much help but think both angles and sunflare have their time and place

I love angles. If done right they can add so much to a shot and I think you have something here. I like the first and last shots best. You are right though that some have too much angle. I would say watch the angles on the full body shots unless the subject is doing something fun or interesting. But, as far as rule of thumb, once you find it, you will break it to capture something. And you will some times love the shot and some times not. I'd say keep messing with the angles. I think you have an eye for it. just my opinion.

Gorgeous kids, a nice pose, and a lovely setting amongst the leaves. I think your DOF is great. I agree that it's a shame the baby's leg is cut off, and whilst I like angles generally I think it's a little severe. As mentioned, I think it looks like they're about to fall out of the photo.
I do think angles are great fun though, I'd just be a little less severe. I find it hard to get right, but when it's right, I think it looks great.

I like angles when you have a line or reference that makes it work. I also feel that there is too much foreground. Otherwise, they are a nice way to break things up.
