Its a bit tight for me. It certainly captures his face and the composition is fine otherwise, but the crop is so tight that it bothers me. He need room above and below his head, or you should crop his face in very tightly. Nice sharp photo, and I love that DOF!

For me its more the chin that is cropped too close, but i like the photo and i like the b/w.

This makes the frame more square and less rectangular, however, I might like it better. Also, there is more negative space around him.

I like that one too. Maybe it could be brighter though

I'd take the full frame shot and crop the top down to his forehead. That would make it more dramatic and focus attention to the face.

And it is too dark & dull - need to lighten & increase contrast overall.

I really like this portrait. I am not sure what it is exactly, but I do find myself really drawn to this photo and keep coming back to it. Well done! I must agree that perhaps a closer crop with higher contrast might be a little more dramatic.

Nice edit. I'd keep the head a little more to the right though, so he is looking into more empty space.

The man seems to have something to say - a story to tell. This photo is the beginning of that story - very intriguing indeed!

That's what I was thinking- reminds me of a scene from a movie. I actually liked the first photo as is, IMHO.
