I think it's a great shot that can be improved with minimal post processing. The only problem that I see is that the colors are a bit flat. Boost your blacks/shadows and increase your contrast, maybe give the image a little S shape in curves. I think Dad will be really happy with this memory he can cherish now and when his kids are grown.
