Oh- can you suggest a wireless trigger? I have a cheap one now and I'm afraid it will fall apart soon but cannot afford a pocket wizard Thanks!

I like and use the Cactus V.5 triggers. (FWIW, I bought them from Gadget Infinity and they were shipped direct from Hong Kong., but here's a US source that I trust.) I believe the newest Yongnuo triggers have a good reputation as well.

For lights: The right set of studio lights can be very cost-effective (don't forget to budget for stands and modifiers as well), but the portability issue is significant, at least to me. If you have to box and unbox your lights and modifiers every time you go out on a shoot, it gets a bit tedious. And if you don't have them with you, it doesn't matter how good they are.

I use Paul Buff Alienbees lights in studio, and I've been very happy with them. But I mostly use a mix of speedlights on location unless I have a big and involved shoot.

Yeah, I'm going to post the sooc shot when I get home.

I will look into those wireless triggers, thank you! I will also research some speedlights, stands, and modifiers as well Right now I have 2 small softboxes... I know I'm going to want bigger ones eventually but I'm really trying to work with what I have to save money (and stress from people telling me I'm buying too much too fast). I think I need more knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of speedlights vs. strobes, take into consideration quality so I'm not replacing things too often, plus the batteries I will need for the speedlights, also the lack of the modeling light... I don't know, it's a lot to think about... and I haven't even mastered the settings IN my camera LOL AHHHHH

I know this is no overnight process but it is very hard for me to half ass anything. When I want to be good at something, I will do what it takes to get there. Hopefully, I'm doing what I need to to be on my way!
