Default Sharp sharp eyes

I want to get better at my "people" pictures I am very hard on myself and never feel the picture is very sharp but still keeping the bokeh nice in the background. I focus on and spot meter the eyes but still does not seem to come out how I envision

Would you mind taking a moment to read the rules for the critique section and then edit your post with information that we need to help you better. Thank you!!

As mentioned above, we need more info to be able to help better. Importantly: what lens are you using? That will make a difference in how you can best get sharpness in the eyes. If you are using a telephoto lens, wide open, then you are definately going to get softness in the eye on the left hand side just because of the boy's body position. His right eye (left side of shot) is further away from the camera then the other eye, so it will be out of the focal plane. I find in most cases shooting at f/5.7 can give you a bit more DOF so more of the face in focus, and sharper, yet still keep the background bokeh.
