Default reflection..me and mini me

Although I have been an amateur for many years, I am finally getting down to the business of learning this thing called photography. This is one of my latest shots and one of my favorites. What I am looking for is the big question: "How would you make it better?". This is a SOOC shot using a Rebel XTi, 50mm lens at f/1.8 and 1/50s. Thanks

I immediately notice that the whole image is pretty fuzzy. I know, I've had the same problem when shooting in a mirror, it might just take a few shots to nail the focus. Also, the black and white conversion is pretty muddy - in making B&Ws its better to go for a more contrasty look. Personally, I'm not so sure about the position of the camera in relation to your face; right in front of your nose and mouth it almost looks like a gas mask
