Post Julie in Upland Portrait Shot

Julie in Upland

I got together with my friend Julie for a last minute (30 mins of day light left in the day) quick shoot. We headed to the local downtown area and snapped this shot. I had previously shot her before for Valentines day and she was way more relaxed this time round (especially since these shots were more fully clothed than the last set). Anyways CC is appreciated.

Shot with a Nikon D5000 with 35mm at F2.0 1/200

The issues I see with this image are mostly in the background and can be fixed with cropping out most of the background especially the red specular highlight. Get in tighter on your subject. Also, her earring while pretty is distracting from her face as it is very bright and reflective. Draws the eye away from her face and eyes. You have good separation from the background and her skintones are perfect. Don't be afraid to get CLOSE to your subject in a portrait especially with a 35mm focal length.
