Default Thanksgiving on the beach

I took this photo of my husband and kids on our last trip to the beach in November. I "like" the photo well enough but had hoped to get a little bit more of a silhouette effect. However, I found that doing so made the sky lose all detail. I would like your opinion on the compostition. I know it doesnt abide by the "rule of thirds". Is it ok with this photo that it isn't or should I have done something different? Also, any other critique is welcome. Thank you.

I think this is a perfect amount of silhouette but for me 2 things.
1. I'd have liked the photo to be taken a tad sooner so that your husbands head was clear of the building, as it is spoiled but the 2 heads touching the horizon.
2. It's a bit too cool for me, i'd warm it up a tad.

I think if you take the picture sooner it won't have the same feel, i like how they don't appear too close to you, the photographer. Although their heads touching the horizon is a bit on a composition issue. Would have been nice to get the camera up a bit higher if possible. I like this picture a lot, it has a great 'other worldly' mood to it.

Thanks, tomservo51. I would have like to have been a bit taller that day, but even I can't make that happen. As to ridley's comment about the coolness of the picture...I actually warmed it up quite a bit from the original. I hated to keep dialing it up because I didn't want it to look orange. It was evening but it wasn't a typical sunset with the masses of orange tones in the sky. I tried to get it as close to what it looked like in real life. Thanks for both of your comments! Next time I may try to find something to stand on.LOL
