First time posting to this site....I hope this post works ok
I finished my photog classes not too long ago and this is one of my first sessions. I would LOVE some constructive criticism so I can continue to grow and improve. Thanks!

Thanks! My biggest question would be...What do you guys think about the exposure? I think my photos still come out too dark. I have played with settings on my camera and in lightroom, but I dont think I am getting that pop yet...

Hello Tanya!

I think your color and composition are doing just fine! I think your initial instinct is correct - make the photos just a bit lighter with a curves layer (or just open up a 1/2 stop when you expose) and you'll be golden. That way they won't print too dark, and you won't lose detail in the shadows, which is an issue I have run into a lot myself!

Oh and in the future double check that your pose is flattering for the couple and that you look for things like straggly hair, etc. It makes less work for you in retouching later!

Otherwise, it looks like you're off to a great start! Keep up the good work and I hope this helps!

exposure is already covered so I won't re-hash that... it's an easy fix anyways. better to bump it in post, it's usually a smarter idea anyways, shadows can usually be recovered much easier than highlights.

the skin tones are a little pink, though i think that is a product of the underexposure than anything.

composition-wise it doesn't work that well for me. if you're intent on having him in profile, place him on the right side of the frame, otherwise it leaves the whole composition feeling shut down, and wasting the entire left side of the frame. if you'd wanted to have them centered, either open his body up a little, or step to your right.

I agree, your crop doesn't make sense. Either center the couple of use the rule of 1/3rds. You seem to be somewhere in the middle and it gives an awkward feeling to the composition. Otherwise I like it, if you want more light just slow down your exposure.
