Default The Bag Lady

Hi

I took this image on a bright sunny, day on our local beach.

I have only had my camera for about a month and am VERY new at taking photos. I would really appreciate some feedback on the image:

Nikon D50
F-stop: f/5.6
Exposure time: 1/2000sec
Focal lenght: 240mm
Manual Mode

1. Please comment on the composition?
2. Is the background too distracting, or does it add to the overall feeling of the image?
3. Colouring?
4. Would really appreciate any comments in general.

Thanks - really appreciate any feedback

Hi there,

1. Please comment on the composition?

Composition is ok! It's actually good that you didn't centre her so that shows that you are actually think about your composition. Would have preferred a little bit more room to the top as it feels just a little tight, but it's no big deal.

2. Is the background too distracting, or does it add to the overall feeling of the image?

No, the background adds to it and gives it context. However.....(look at number 3)...

3. Colouring?

Not a fan of selective colouring. Whilst it's actually not so badly done here as the selected colours are not screaming against the blacks and whites, I still dont' think it's necessary to do selective colouring. I think this would look incredible in colours...

4. Would really appreciate any comments in general.

You've done well enough for a beginner so keep at it!

Just a request for future critiques, and that is if you can embed the photo instead of attaching. People can't actually see the photos to refef back to when typing replies when it's attached. But if the photo is embeded, we can.

Cheers and keep posting,

Grace

Hi Grace

Thanks for the feedback - will definitely keep your points in mind and appreciate the comments
Did try and embed the image first time round and did not win, so thought I would attach it

I still need to look into Flickr, photobucket or something similar.

Cheers
