Default Ridding at sunset...

Hi all, I am back from vacation, posting the first pic of 2012, this man was ridding bike in Venice Beach CA., at sun set.

Can you please critic composition and light?

Hi Art,

The problem, for me, with this photo is the composition. He looks like he's either wobbling with the bicycle due to the misdirection he is going at - towards the wall. I think you needed to take his photo where is actually on the footpath or bike path heading towards or away from the sun in the parallel direction of the wall. Here, he looks like he's about to crash into the garbage bin.

Light is ok, but I do think you can use some more contrast into this. It's a little bit washed out and needs more blacks in the shadow.

Portrait orientation is ok but I think this would have benefitted better with landscape to get more of the scene. I would ahve taken this from a different perspective, too, standing on the path with the wall leading to some destination and not fighting against horizon perspective.

Can't comment much more because you have attached the photo and can't see the photo whilst replying. Better if this was embedded within your post.

Thanks for your comments, the really was turning to right, that's why it looks as you describe it. It is difficult to decide portrait and landscape since it is in motion and you may lose the opportunity
