Default engagement

Went out today with my friends who just got engaged. I wanted to know what you guys thought. What should I have done differently? The sun was about an hour and a half from sunset and i don't know how I did with what was available. Thanks!

I don't think the BW conversion is particularly effective. The mid tones are very muddy. If you were getting toward sunset, I wonder why you went with BW to begin with. Even if you're not in the golden hour, the sun should have been at a sufficient angle to give some interesting light.

Hope you don't mind I played with it a little. I just upped the exposure, played with levels and contrast, and upped the saturation.

Just let me know if you want it taken down.

Nice picture, the only thing I would have done is used a higher f stop (lower number).

I really like how you touched this up. I'm new here and think the photo is very nice. I'm interested though in where I can go to get editing tips so i can edit my photos a bit. Thanks!
