Default First shoot with someone not family, what could I have done better?

Camera Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS
Exposure 0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture f/14.0
Focal Length 21 mm
ISO Speed 200
With Flash.

The biggest annoyance I have is the flash glare on her glasses. The hall way we were in was too tight for any kind of off camera lighting.

Anything you can see that I could have done better would be appreciated.

I would have shot at a lower f/stop to better utilize DoF to draw attention to the model. You can always bounce the light off the opposite wall, the ceiling or even shoot it towards the opposite wall to bounce if off a reflector or white foam core if the wall is an odd color.

To get rid of the flash next time, just tilt the glasses down a little bit. Look in the glasses before you shoot. If you can see the reflection of the light source from where you'll be shooting then you'll get a reflection.

+1 Bounce the flash, instead of using it directly on-axis. And flagging the flash as you bounced might have helped eliminate the glare by hiding the light. See black foamie thing. Also, shoot RAW and adjust white balance.

The framing's a little awkward with the slanted door frame. The background's cluttered and fights for focus. Interacting to get a more expressive moment (she looks kind of bored and just putting up with you) might have helped, too.

Inki,

Are you stalking me or my posts to make sure I don't spout too much useless info?
