does it work well? ..imo, no. There's nothing in the image to warrant a vintage colour scheme.
If the furniture, wallpaper, hairstyles, clothing etc. were of a vintage nature, my opinion would be different. sorry for the negativity ..just my 2 cents. |

As for the actual colours etc does it work as a vintage style pic? i.e. if the furniture, wallpaper etc warranted this colour scheme would it work? I ask because I may be doing a shoot soon where such things will be vintage and that is one of the reasons I tried it here to see if I could apply it to my future shoot. |

Does the treatment work as a 'vintage' treatment? I suppose so...given there are unlimited variations and expectations on an umbrella-type description. Applying a vintage finish to a normal image (ie, not period) is amongst expectations from clients these days. It's no so much about recreating a film type or period appearance, its more about using tones and contrast.
Does it help the image? Yes.. otherwise it's just a filler-candid aimed more at setting a scene than capturing 'important'. As such if you left it as i assume it was, it would have looked like a snapshot, as the girls in the foreground have flat lighting and the DoF is barely a component of the composition... doing something like this gives it a little extra something to take it beyond that. Ultimately it's effectiveness depends upon how it fits with your style of presentation and processing, and the clients expectations. imho it looks 'better' than the original plain shot looked. |

Thanks for the feedback, I had hoped it would make the picture more interesting this way, as you said it's more a snapshot capturing a moment which isn't that inspiring but key to the wedding day, so hopefully this added some interest to the photo |
