This picture was taken on a pretty cloudy day. The background is small gravel, in our driveway.
Here are the settings for the picture, F/stop - 2.5, Shutter/1/250, ISO 125 Any suggestions on how I could have made this better I will enjoy...as long as they are said in a nice way! : ) This is my first picture to put on here...I'm excited.

Not bad overall. I've got this thing against taking pics of kids looking up at me unless there is something on the ground below them (i.e. flowers, leaves) that will benefit the portrait. Try getting down to her level (unless of course you wanted this particular pose).

I am trying something different to see if it makes the picture bigger....I think this worked, although it does seem to appear sharper on here than it really is.
![]() Thanks for the comments! You are right Grace, she is a little to centered for using the rule of thirds! I hadn't thought of that. But I do think it is ok, for this picture. : ) And thanks Ridgetop for that thought! I was wanting to get the gravel in the background so I think that is at least partly why I took it from above. But something to think about!!! ~Sarah |

I'd also say though that taking pics of kids from above isn't the best idea... I think it's better to be at their eye level so the viewer enters "their world". It's fine to shoot from above every now and then but more often than not you should be at the eye level and maybe using a wide open aperture to blur the background so it's not distracting |
