Default Train Pose

Not sure what I could have done differently to get the photos to turn out a bit better.


Camera Nikon Coolpix P500
Exposure 0.25 sec (1/4)
Aperture f/4.0
Focal Length 6.7 mm
ISO Speed 400
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash On, Red-eye reduction
Taken on 12/9/11

I feel like this is merely a family snapshot (although a cute one). I think that in this particular setting, you either need to have the focus be on the trains or the kids, not both. The lights and colors are distracting to the main subjects and they get lost in all the background. I would move in closer and fill the frame with the children, but with the on-camera flash the lighting will be harsh. Also, one of the boys has his face covered by the collar of his coat.

Take the photo earlier so there is still ambient light in the sky.

All you can see in the background are the lights. Nothing to indicate it is a train.
