Default Xmas Bokeh

Messing around with the neighbors tree lights.

Do you find the hair blending into the background an issue... should I add a hair light? Does the composition work for you, or would you frame it differently?

I vote for just enough hair light to seperate it from the dark background.

I agree. Just a little bit of light would help make this photo pop a lot more. Also, as far as composition, I feel like we don't see enough of him. You cut off his arm and had him stand at an angle where half of his body is turned away, and it doesn't feel like a true portrait. I think a crop or different angle would help a lot.

I'm not a lighting guy (yet), but I agree with a little rim light, and I feel like the main light on the subject is a bit hot and harsh. I wonder how it would look if you could tone him down maybe 1/3-1/2 stop.

I feel the flash needs turned down a notch.
