Cept it isnt black and white.
I think you answered mist of your questions by asking them, Yes, the white vignette is too much. I'd try posing them so his chin isnt cut off and their hands as well.

I'm assuming you mean black and white as in that's what they're wearing? I agree with the above about the chopped limbs. I'm not a fan of vignetting in general, really, so I'd at least tone that down (but that's personal pref, I suppose). I don't like that she is centered and he is off to the side - I'd either step back and put both along the right third of the photo or crop to fill the frame with them. As far as making it more Christmas-y, I'm really digging the twinkle bokeh lights lately, and you could easily do that with this background: photo / twinkle lights
