Default Squishy baby feedback?

Would love some feedback on my buddy's little squishy baby here! I know I need to pull the backdrop back further. Not sure I'm in love with the pose and really not sure about the skin tones (baby is naturally a bit darker than your "average" caucasian baby). 50mm, ISO 400, f1.8, 1/200. Thanks!

Frist off, it's not a bad picture IMO. There is something bothering me about it though.... It's either the skin tons or the way he is wrapped(or coming out of the wrap)....or both...I'm thinking a different crop might help?

Now that I'm looking at it again, I'm thinking she looks too yellow. I'll try a closer crop around the face, too (I do have other shots from this session that are tighter, just wanted to get her little feet in there!). Thanks!

Anyone else?

It's hard to get a baby to pose, so it's really about timing and luck. Since you saw the baby IRL you should be the best judge of the color, but it looks pretty good to me.

In my opinion, the cloth she's wrapped in looks like something a mummy would wear. I don't like it. I would want to see a baby in something more colorful, which could also be used to identify the sex of the baby easier.

I actually like the muslin wrap, its different. What I'm not digging is the angle. Is the baby on a slide or what?

haha, no, just a bean bag I tilted the camera a bit, flat on her back was just kind of boring and blah.

I do have a bunch of shots with headbands, this one just didn't have it. Not that that would help this shot for you ;-)

This was more a "i've seen others do it, so I'll give it a try" thing. Didn't really think about it - this was my first time photographing a newborn (actually, really my first time shooting anyone expecting to get something out of it), so I was kind of winging it.
