Smile My beautiful little niece!

I haven't posted in almost a month now! Lol So here is a picture of my niece, and since I'm dirt poor I was hoping I could give one of these pictures to my brother since he just returned from Afghanistan not long ago and has missed most of her childhood. I have 3 pictures and although I know the norm isn't to post that many this really is very important. I would appreciate any feedback and if they all suck and I need to try again PLEASE let me know!

The light source is from an open window.
Camera Nikon D3100
Exposure 0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture f/5.3
ISO 200
No Flash

DSC_0043 (11)

DSC_0055 (8)

Thanks guys!!!

I'd like to see it with a little more exposure. I think you lost too much detail in the shadows.

I like them just as they are. I don't think they suck at all. While there are times when you want to have detail in the shadows, there are also times when you want to create a certain mood with the light. On the second shot, I would've tried to get the window out of the frame (it's way too hot), and I would've tried to get her more in focus. I love the first shot.

This is my thought, too...although, I'll go further and say that the window doesn't bother me all that much. I can't imagine all three being anything less than priceless to your brother. Share them all with him!

I think the first one is by far the best. It's lovely.

I find the angle of the second one distorts her head! And the third one is a very forced, awkward smile.

The first one is lovely although I reckon you could decrease the vignette a little and brighten it a tad and perhaps sharpen her eyes? Just my thoughts though.

Thank you everyone! I do plan on giving him all of them, but unfortunately I can only afford one print! The rest will have to be digital copies :/ I personally liked the sorta Rembrandt lighting, but I can see how that might not be suitable for a shot of a little girl! I will try lightening it up a bit and see how it looks. The only reason I backed off of it was because I didn't want to make the brighter side over exposed!

I love the level of sharpness the lens is showing. I really love the first and second photo, but the third photo she looks like she feels very uncomfortable and scared.
