Default Big eyed baby :)

This is one of my very first "people" pictures. Its of a friend and a neighbor's baby. Any form of critique would be welcome. Is the composition OK? Is the cropping good? Is it too dark? what could I have done better?
Thanks.

Don't use the flash on your camera for starters It's too bright for this shot, makes them look too shiny, and the bright spot on the blue wall created from the flash is distracting.
As far as the crop goes, you clipped dad's ear..it's a little too close for me, should have backed up a little.

Just my .02 cents

The pinpoints in the eyes are throwing me off a bit. I have always had a hard time photographing darker skin. I have tried some various bounce techniques with some success. What was your flash setup/configuration?

Thanks a lot. As for dad's ear, that was the shot (my bad). I used the pop up flash cos I didn't have a flash and it was a spur of the moment shot and I agree its too harsh.
