Default Christmas Photo

I took this photo of my neighbors son while babysitting him. I thought he would be a good poser for taking family photos.

This was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P500

Hi there,

I don't know anything about your camera, but I am assuming that it's not quite a full DSLR?

Just so you know or forgot, you should provide the exif data with your critique photos so that people can assess your photos/techniques better.

With this photo, there really is not a lot to say except that it's very flat. It's a snap of the boy and not much more than that. It looks as if you've used an on-camera flash, hence, the flatness of the photo. There isn't anything about his facial expression that says anything about him.

Could you have done something better with the composition to help make it more interesting? Yes. You could have captured at least a smile, a candid moment, anything aside from the "stand there and look at the camera" look.

I'm so sorry there is really not much more than I can say. I would suggest to try and capture more candid moments and get a vision of what makes that moment special. Children are so vibrant, temperamental, colourful. Find a way to capture any of those in the photos and you'll have yourself some winning images.

Cheers,

Grace
