Default Focus on the eyes or somewhere else?

When i was editing this pic on my home pc I thought I'd managed to get the focus on the eyes as it looked nice and sharp.

But now on my work pc it looks a little soft.

Did I get the focus right or miss it slightly?

The rest of the set can be viewed here if anyone is interested

Hard to tell at such small size but the eyes look reasonably sharp. Offcourse could be better though.

What are the camera settings? Tripod or handheld?

Sorry I would have included the Exif data but it's not showing on Flickr as I uploaded it to Twitpic, then downloaded and uploaded to Flickr... I'll upload it straight from PC to Flickr when I have the chance.

I think though the basic settings were roughly:

ISO - 100
Shutter Speed - 1/100
Aperture - f/5

I shot it hand held.

Is it showing as a small size?

I posted it as 600 x 400 so it should be fairly large?

Still small for us to look at. Do you happen to have link to flicker for the full size photo for us to see, also what focal length was the lens, you used a slow shutter speed, so I'm curious.

Hi, yeah sure here's the link:

Marcus | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

The lens is a 17-50mm tamron f/2.8

I'm guessing on the shutter speed tbh, it could have been 1/200 but definately wan't slower than 1/100. (Sorry I know that's not a lot of help)

Any chance you could up load the original file size? That way we can view it close to 100% and find out for sure, with flicker you usually have small Medium, Large and Original...yours is at medium right now and doesn't have the option to go bigger. If your worried about someone stealing the picture, slap a black mark across his face. I just want to see where the focus is at.

Yeah no problem I'll upload it from home tonight.

Tbh I just quickly grabbed it from my twitpic as was showing someone it, and then uploaded it it Flickr after that. I'll avoid doing that in future as it doesn't seem like a very good way of doing things.

Sorry to ask other questions. I see that the lens is a Tamron, have you had focus problems before with this lens? Tamrons don't have the best QA and have been known to back or front focus. I wonder if yours does this as well.

Do yo still have the kit lens where you could do a small test?
