Default I need my groove back

I have always dabbled in photography and have finally decided to make a go at it. The only prblem is since I've learned more and more, which is great, I find myself constantly fretting over the technical side so I'm feeling a little less confident about my "eye". Just looking for any type of helpful feedback to get me over this hump! Thanks in advance.

The technical side needs put into the back when actually shooting...You can do that once you've really learned it well.
Worrying about technical details while shooting will usually impede the results...It's like worrying about the mechanics of how to swing a golf club when on the tee box instead of just smacking the ball.

Erin, This photo is gorgeous!

It's important to know the technical aspects, but like sk66 said, don't let it kill the vision.

I've seen some amazing photos that when looked at more closely weren't totally technically "correct" but they were still amazing

Thank you so much bphilleo for the compliment! I just need to get out of my own head...I think we can all benefit from that! Love your work.

I think your image is quite nice. The only things I would suggest is cropping it so your subject isn't in the middle. For me personally its not dark enough for a silhouette yet its too dark for that sunset shot. I would have either gone lighter or darker, just my opinion though its still a nice shot

Ever since I have taken my camera off auto and have started to learn the technical aspects my images have gone downhill. Its highly discouraging but it has to be like driving a car and just go through the motions without really thinking about them. So I can totally sympathise with you.
