At The Tent Door.

My long time friend stopped by Africa on her way to the pacific rim for a visit. One of the days she was out here we took a trip to the local Cheetah Refuge. After dealing with purring cheetahs and large angry flightless birds we came across a tent they had set up like the ones that the local nomads use around the country. Once my friend saw it she ducked inside to look around and I got this photo of her before she came back out.



Taken right at the start of the golden hour.

Nice pic... the only thing i could think of would be to have a much wider aperture (maybe f/1.4) so the tassles hanging down were blurred and the subjects face was in focus.

As it stands they compete slightly for attention.

Just a minor point though and would depend entirely on whether your lens was able to shoot at that aperture anyway

I really like this shot! The only thing I have is that the color looks off to me...she looks very pinky/magenta. I'd try moving the tint slider toward the green in RAW.

That's a good point on the tassels. While I could not open up the lens much more (I was using a nikon 70-300mm F/4.5-5.6 VR) I can see how they take some of the attention away from her.

Thanks! I think some of the magenta on her face is from her hair dye. It tends to bleed out. Also we were a bit pink after swimming with whale sharks a few days before. But I will play around with the color a bit. I tend not to do that very much.
