Default Portrait of the day - all comments welcomed :-)

So there is another one that I like...

I think my composition could be better, but I still like it. What could be done better?

Thank you to the DPS community, I am sooo happy I can share some of my beginner's work and learn from your amazing experience.

Thanks!

First let me say that the child is adorable. And, I agree about the composition not being ideal...just a little too tight, and a little too much open space on the right side. On my uncalibrated laptop, the image appears to be on the cool side. I made a few quick adjustments (again, on my uncalibrated laptop) and warmed up the image a bit by playing with the red channel in levels. Also, it's been lightened a bit as it looks like about 1/2 stop underexposed. Here below is a before and after of doing that.

Got it thanks! I guess that my northern Canadian Blood pushes me on the colder side of colors :-)

Many thanks!

Wow.. very nice eyes....Hmm.. Autofocus, I have a question:

a) Could I do the same by adjusting the WB so that the background turn into blue color, then use gold reflector / CTO gel speedlight shoot from the angle where it does not affect the blue color of the eyes?

b) Did you direct the flash backward, and hit the white board behind you? I always find difficult to get nice Iris without sufficient light. Issit because of eyes variance ?

Default Lovely capture

A lovely capture of a lovely little girl. My only comment would be that I find the black portion of the background a bit distracting...despite the big blue eyes, my eyes get drawn to that darker portion of background behind her head.

I like the expression though...very cute!

Regards,

Jonathan
