Took this last week. Looking for coments regarding composition and exposure. I have another version of the play set structure cropped out but I think I like this one better. Thanks. I am using a D70 with a 50mm F1.4 prime lens.

Overall a nice photo in my book.
What follows is some nitpicking. -Play with the crop to have the subject in the lower 1/3 of the frame to see if it gives a sense of movement. It may or may not help, but worth the look. -I say leave the swingset in the image. -Since this shot is easily reproducable, try panning to give motion to the image. -Also try a more open apeture to achieve more bokeh to help your subject stand out. -Try multiple persectives...him coming straight at you or get higher and shoot down.

The swingset is fine (I might include a bit more for better context).
You should probably straighten the verticals as it looks like you're tilting the camera to the right. The color palettes of the subject (warmer than normal skin and red hair), the cedar swingset, the seat, and the background trees are very similar. This results in the subject being a bit lost in the background. You might consider adding a bit of light from flash to drop the background exposure and provide better separation. You might also want to go a bit larger on the aperture to blur the background a bit more. I wouldn't push all the way to f/1.4, but f/2.8 might help. I'd also consider shooting from lower, and placing the subject against the sky rather than the trees.
