Default First post. Quiet moment with Amber. Would love feedback.

Hello everyone,

This is a image from a recent set I did with a friend of mine Amber. I would love to hear any feedback you may have. Note I put my flash (speedlight) outside the door firing in on her. Using a simple wireless trigger.

Thanks everyone!

Camera Nikon D40
Exposure 0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture f/4.5
Focal Length 31 mm
ISO Speed 400

Its just a little too dark, and the top of her head is cut off. Great shot though.

I don't mind the crop at all. It looks intentional rather than accidental and the composition works for me.

I agree that the skin highlights are a bit under-exposed.

I'd like to see a bit more detail on the shadow side of the subject. You might consider a bit of bounce fill to pull up the shadows just a bit. That's a style thing, though, so if it doesn't match your vision, ignore the comment.

You have nice engagement with the subject here; I like this quite a bit.

The shot is well executed, and tells a lot. Sets the mood, so, i dont think any additional fill would be needed. However, I would have the model look out the window rather than at the camera, as it just looks awkward right now.

Well this is a case of everyone likes something different isn't it?

For me:

The crop is great.
Looking at the camera is better than out the window. Engage the camera and the viewer. But, I would like to make the model's nose point more at the camera. I like to see the whites of their eyes on both sides of the iris.
I would have added either a slight bit of fill flash or a reflector to get the window light back onto the right side of her face.

I like the crop, the engagement of the model with the camera and the "I just got up but I'm going to give you a bit of a come hither look anyway".

I do like to see some white on both sides of the eye (even if just a wee bit). The cup full of steaming liquid would be good with me too.

I can't give intelligent critique on lighting as I've yet to learn that aspect, but I can tell you I like what you did. Having said that, I would be happier with just a bit of fill on the camera left side of the face.
