Default Is this too yellow and anything else wrong?

Hey, here's a picture I shot of my sister. Portfolio - temet vince | SmugMug

I'm done editing it and I was really pleased with it (which means it probably has a million things wrong with it). But it does seem a little yellow to me. Does it look too yellow to you all?

Also, is there anything else that stands out as blazingly awful? If the photo is in the the 90% range where 100% is the perfect photo, then I'm happy that I made it to that point, but if I screwed up somewhere it would be nice to know. Also, I know it was shot at a poor f-stop for my 50mm 1.8 prime lens, and the dof sucks on her face, but unfortunately I can't reshoot it. Do you feel that the dof substantially subtracts from the quality of the portrait? And there is a bit of blur due to my poor choice of shutter speed, but I really liked the blur personally.

Thanks.

Hi there!

I will give you my feedback but as I am fairly "newbie" take it with a grain of salt

I also have a 50mm 1.8 and am also experiencing too shallow DOF sometimes I found that in situtions like these stopping down to f3.5 - f5 works for me depending on how far away I am from the subject to get all the things of interest in focus. In thi case I would maybe have gone up to ISO 1600 and stopped one stop down on the aperture in order to get the same shutter speed but get more stuff in focus. If you are worried about noise at ISO 1600 I found that Lightroom 3.3 has a great noise tool and usually gets rid of the noise and you can also sharpen the photo afterwards to make up for the small blurring the denoising does.

I would have a look if you could maybe accentuate the contrast somewhat on the lizard as it is an interesing subject but it does appear a little overexposed to me and a lot of the detil seems to be in the right end of the histogram, maybe you can select the lizard only and bring it back a little towards the right in the histogram in Photoshop or Lightroom?

I love the warmth of the photo so I don't think it's too yellow

I hope the few comments helped! As I said, I am a little new to photography so take from it what works best for you!

Ok, I'll do that from now on. It took me a little while to figure out how to resize them in photoshop to fit the forum rules!

Thank you for the tip. And thank you also lerabu!
