Is the photo underexposed? It was taken in yearly evening light...

I think it is. I hope you don't mind, I did a quick edit. I felt the contrast was a little low too.

Contrast increase 40
Vibrancy 50 iirc
Saturation 5
Played around in exposure and levels some.

Now I'm not saying this is a good edit! Actually, I think messing around with the levels made his jacket and helmet way too yellow. I'm a complete noob. In fact, we should probably wait for the experts to show up and undo everything I just did. One of the things that bothered me most as a viewer of the photo was the guy behind the kid looks like he's going to kick him. Maybe it's just me or personal preference though?
